Hattie Harwood Full Body Massage

What happens in a full body massage?

At the start of a full body massage (as well as other treatments), there will be a short consultation with your therapist. This is important to make sure this massage is right for you and will go over any allergies or illnesses you may have that will affect the treatment. The therapist will also let you know what to expect during the treatment like the pressure that will be used.

They will then give you privacy to remove jewelry and necessary items of clothing, which for a full body massage is everything apart from underwear. You will then lie on the couch and the therapist will begin the massage using oil for slip. The type of oil used depends on if there are any allergies, but some can also have additional benefits such as being moisturising or anti-inflammatory etc.

The therapist will check the pressure with you but it is important to say if you are experiencing any discomfort; massages should not be painful. The therapist will move through the different regions of the body, usually starting on the back and will turn you over to be able to massage the otherside.

Once finished, the therapist will let you know the massage is over and will give you privacy to get changed. They will bring you water and discuss aftercare instructions with you before you go.

A full body massage can vary between therapists; some full body treatments are an hour, some are 90 minutes or more, some literally involve the whole body while other treatments don’t include a head or stomach massage and this may be extra.

It is important to have a conversation with your therapist about what is included and what you want focused on as this could affect the treatment. If the therapist works within a time limit, they may need to spend less time on one area in order to focus more on another. This will be discussed during the consultation.

What does a full body massage look like with Hattie Harwood?

My full body massages are an hour which include the Back, Neck and Shoulders, Back of the legs, front of the legs, feet, hands and arms. I also provide a 90 minute massage where I also include the scalp and stomach if wanted.

After our consultation, I will leave you to remove necessary clothing and get comfortable on the couch. The treatment begins on the back so you will start lying face down.
Before heading straight into the massage I will ask you to take three deep breaths.

This is a great way to calm your breathing and help relax you so you can fully experience the massage. Initial touch is introduced on the feet with heated mitts and then using oil, I will start the massage on your back. I tend to spend 20-30 minutes here, especially if you have a lot of tension around the shoulders.

After the back massage, the oil will be removed with more heated mitts and a lotion or gel will be applied. Next is the back of the legs and feet then you will be turned over so I can massage the front of the legs and finish on the arms.

I hope this has answered any questions you might have had about full body massage!
